Born on the autistic spectrum, I didn’t speak until I was 5 years old.

Life has been a struggle as I’ve learnt how to navigate in a world of neurotypicals.

I grew up in Mozambique, but moved to Australia when I was 10, when my parents split up, my Dad staying in Africa, while I settled in Sydney with my mother.

At age 19 I discovered a love of painting.  I found it a really great tool to take me into a different world and help me with my mental health and I finally found something that I could shine at.

Art is something that I lean into.  I still suffer from anxiety, but art is the one thing that I can always turn to to lose myself in and bring a smile to my face.

I paint a variety of things - I particularly favour the natural world and portraits of the people around me.  I also draw a lot of inspiration from my history of living in different countries as well as my very varied cultural background.

I love using colour - bright colours make me happy.  I also love to explore people and am especially fascinated with their cultural backgrounds - it helps me understand them and enter into their worlds.
